From container unloader to manager

My name is Danny and I come from The Hague. I have been working at DL since 2009. I currently work at DL Coldstore in Bodegraven. I have always been taught to roll up my sleeves and get on with the job in hand and work hard. If you want to buy something you have to first work for your money! I take that mentality and attitude with me in the workplace.

I started my career at DL as a container unloader. After a while I was also allowed to start order picking. Three years later, one of our customers moved to our location in Bleiswijk and because I had mastered the work for this client, I too moved to Bleiswijk. After a few years, I became team leader there. I recently started working as warehouse manager at our new location in Bodegraven.

The new location is much larger and we have a much wider variety of products in the warehouse. This is something that I like very much as it keeps my work varied.

I started at DL as a young lad. DL took me under their wing and I was able to learn a lot. I try to teach the things I was taught to the boys on the work floor because at the end of the day we all have to work and pull together.

The best days are the days when we are very busy and there are actually too many orders to cope with. Everyone has to step up a notch and work harder. But at the end of the day, we succeed and work together as a team. I like that!
